Ms. Sarbani Kumar is the senior most faculty member of the department of History and at present is an Associate Professor in the department. Having joined the college in 1989, she has more than 30 years of teaching, paper setting and evaluation experience. Ms. Kumar has completed her Graduation (Lady Shri Ram College for Women), Post-Graduation (Miranda House) and M. Phil (Department of History), all from University of Delhi. Her area of specialisation is Medieval Indian History. The topic of her M Phil dissertation is ‘Madad-i-Maash Holders and Urban and Rural Society in Southern Awadh (17th-18th Century)’. She has written several chapters in books and lessons for the benefit of Undergraduate students besides guiding them in their career paths. Ms. Kumar has contributed immensely to the corporate life of the college as Convener/Member of several Staff Council Committees. As Convener of the cultural society of the college, she organized functions that set a new cultural standard for the college. As teacher coordinator of the SPICMACAY chapter of PGDAV College, she has successfully organized several classical music and dance recitals in the college performed by several leading musicians and dancers of national and international repute along with several craft workshops under the guidance of celebrated craft masters.
