Professor Banna Ram Meena specialises in Tribal Studies and Media Studies. He earned his B.A., M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Delhi. Presently, he serves as a Professor in the Department of Hindi, P.G.D.A.V. College (University of Delhi), where he has been teaching since 2006.
As an author and editor, he has produced several significant works, including Aadivasi Aasmita Vaya Katha-Sahitya, AdivasiNama: Adivasi Sahitya Aur Parampara ki Khoj, and Hindi Katha Ka Van Pradesh (Editor). These publications testify to his sustained commitment to bringing indigenous and subaltern narratives into the mainstream of Hindi literary discourse.
He has published more than Twenty Five research papers in reputed national and international journals, and his writings on Adivasi consciousness, cultural politics, and Hindi media studies have significantly shaped contemporary Hindi criticism. In recognition of his academic excellence, he was honored with the UGC Research Award (2012-2013).
Beyond academia, he is a prominent public intellectual. He is also a frequent keynote and invited speaker at national and international seminars. His current research explores tribal oral traditions, folk culture, and contemporary media narratives, focusing on the evolving representation of tribal and Dalit communities in Hindi literature and cultural media.
Taught various subjects- Social Media, Modern Hindi Criticism, Hindi Katha Sahitya, Bhaktikalin Kavya, etc.
Currently guiding a Ph.D student enrolled in Hindi Department, University of Delhi.
