"Investigating Trauma in Twentieth Century African American Short Fiction"

In my Ph.D. research work I have examined how the marks of trauma left on the consciousness of African American society give an idiosyncratic identity to the short fiction written by them. I have tried to critique the way their scarred sensibilities have bestowed them with distinctive powers of analysis and interpretation of race relations. In the due course, I have observed the transition and the evolution of African American short fiction from the beginning of the Harlem Renaissance to the end of the twentieth century. Here I have used Black Aesthetics, Black Feminist and especially the Trauma theory as my analytical tools.

Participated in a project of Operation Smile, India at Visva-Bharati PM Hospital, During September 14-21, 2013.
