Dr. Varun Bhushan is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics of this college and has a teaching experience of 10 years in University of Delhi.  He has recently been awarded Ph.D on his thesis titled ‘Demographic Dividend in India: Regional Variations’ in Economics at IGNOU, New Delhi.He has participated as a delegate and presented papers in various national and international conferences in several universities of repute like IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak, Delhi Technological University, TERI School of Advanced Studies, Delhi University, Pune University and Christ University, Bengaluru. He has published 12 research papers in different national and internationally referred research journals.  He has received two best paper presentation awards for the paper titled “Global Financial Crisis-The Untold Story & Lessons to Learn” in Sri Sharada Institute Of Indian Management-Research, New Delhi and for the paper titled “Quantifying the Demographic Dividend in India: A State level Analysis of Health, Education and Employment” presented in the Conference on Emerging Trends in Management Practices 2019, organized by Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies.  

He is currently the Advisor to Student Union, Treasurer of PGDAV Alumni Association and NAAC Criterion-7 coordinator. He has also served the college in various capacities such as Vice-President of the P.G.D.A.V. College Staff Association 2020-22, Co-convenor of Admission Committee (2022-23), Head of Economics Department 2021-22, Member of IQAC 2019-21, Convenor of Economics Society, Member of Diligentia: ‘The Entrepreneurship Cell’, Placement Cell, Sports Committee, Library Committee, Admission Committee etc.

He is an economics graduate from P.G.D.A.V College and M.A. in Economics from Kurukshetra University.

I have written three units titled Production function with one or more variable inputs, Cost function and Profit function for the subject Introductory Micro Economics for the course B.A (H) Economics in IGNOU.

I have also written a Unit titled ‘Demographic Transition and Its Implications’ for the course on Indian Economic Policy (MEC-205) a compulsory course of M.A. Economics (Part-I) Programme.

I have also written two units for the course Development Economics-II under BA (H) Economics programme in IGNOU. The units are titled ‘Demographic Transition and its Implications’ and ‘Demography and the Process of Development’.

The paper got published in their journal of Department of Professional Studies Christ University.

3. “Role of Education and Employment in India’s Demographic Dividend” in the National Conference on ‘Changing Economic and Business Environment in India’- Prospects and Challenges held in February 9-10, 2018 at Christ Institute of Management Delhi-NCR. The paper will be published in the UGC approved ‘International Journal of Research in Economics and Social Sciences.
